History of the yacht

Wimbi Nyota (Wave Star in Kiswahili) was built in 1986 in France and belonged to a private Greek owner, who had named her Theo. Olaf Nitchmann, who used to own and run a bar-restaurant near Cologne in Germany, fell in love with her in Athens in 1999 and after renaming her, sailed her through the Suez Channel and Red Sea to the zanzibari waters, where he had planned to start a charter business under the name Zanzibarsail. He met Mahege, a Zanzibari with experience in sailing dhows, who became a friend and joined him on the yacht. In 2000, Sonja Hediger, former medical doctor on a diving holiday in Zanzibar, fell in love with the skipper and his relaxed way of life. All three have been working together since then and sharing the same dream.
